MH is closed, and with that chapter behind me, I’m no longer practicing public health services.
So, I’d like to reintroduce myself as Business Program Manager of TAPE.
Tape is a project that was buried more than a decade ago. It’s coming back from the grave and leaning toward execution.
Tape starts as a pipeline between multiple users and services: a mesh forming a secondary layer over the Internet, or essentially, an intranet of users and services.
The purpose is to create a controlled, private layer over the public Internet: a space where users, services, and providers can connect through a more deliberate and managed environment, with each endpoint assigned a secondary protocol address.
To prevent mirroring the open Internet, Tape establishes a trust boundary around the mesh. Services and users must be authenticated and validated through trusted certificates issued by an approved Certificate Authority (CA), such as "Let’s Encrypt" with set of rules and agreements.
This provides a mechanism to distinguish participating, verifiable services from arbitrary Internet endpoints and helps keep the network curated rather than becoming a replica of the public web.
The mesh starts with a curated set of services, while opening the door for other providers to join the ecosystem.
